Why does DCSD need a MLO?
DCSD currently has 12% of additional local funding thanks to previous MLOs. However, neighboring school districts have the full 25% which creates a funding disparity that makes it difficult to compete for staff.
DCSD currently pays their teachers 18K on average less than CCSD and 11K less than LPS. We need to be able to recruit and retain the very best teachers and staff to provide our kids the excellent education they are accustomed to in DCSD. We are currently not a competitive employer a MLO will change that.
